Since my parents and my sister's family live out that way, this was actually my third time going. We went this past spring to see "Horton Hears a Who" and a few years back for a roller skating birthday party. Whew...it took me several trips around the rink before I got my "skatin' legs" back! But I digress. Back to Carrie being 10.
This year, she chose bowling and the arcade as her party activities. My sister rented one lane for Carrie, her friends, and Ashley/Kate/Aaron and another lane for the adults. Kate had tried bowling in the past and wasn't really fond of it, so she watched and occasionally cheered from the sidelines.
Aaron, however, was in a whole new wonderful world. He seemed in awe of the bright lights, the multitude of colorful bowling balls to pick from and the crashing sounds of pins falling down. He was ready for some bowling FUN!
He saw everyone picking out their bowling balls, so he marched right over to one and PICKED IT UP. Mind you, it was probably the lightest one they had, but still. He's only 2 1/2! (It's just amazing the differences between boys/girls...Kate would have never been able to lift it.) Aaron had to use both arms and hands to carry the ball, but he got it up to the lane.
We had to use one of those special ramps so that the ball had a chance at making it down the lane. Aaron was super excited when he knocked a few pins over. He played almost every frame. At some point in the game, he decided to celebrate knocking down pins by dancing or cheering. How cute is he?
He did get a little restless between turns, but eventually laid down on the shoe rack (okay, not for long, but it was a nice thought).

I love the bowling pages and the story behind it!!
We should have a roller skating night. Of course, that probably wouldn't be good for me in my "delicate condition".
Thanks for putting my pic by the "strike"! =) Come to think of it, I might have had one that day (the bowling kind, not the Vise family kind)! I digress. Great layout, you did an awesome job.
I like the picture with Aaron, your mom and the orange bowling ball. You can see the anticipation and joy in his face. You can also tell that Carey and her friend must have been running to stop them because the employee in the background was bringing the ramp. My question is did they stop them in time?
