P.O.G...

It's been forever. I know. I decided to take a little vacay. Can you blame a girl? This girl was so looking forward to a fun and exciting track out. Kate was going to be home for three weeks, and we were going to HAVE SOME FUN. I had lots of plans. Outdoor plans. Michael's arts & crafts plans. Museum plans. Nanay & Papa plans. Cupcake plans.

I didn't have hospital admission plans. Marathon throw-up party plans. Crib explosion plans. Cold and rainy day plans. And yet, this was our track out action.

Mind you, I'm just glad to have survived it. I think (as a family) we lost about 15 pounds, but not to worry, I'm pretty sure we have gained it all back! Getting that sick (and we ALL got it) was just horrible. You really forget how awful it feels to be sick until you're sick. And then you just pray that it will go away...fast. It took our family 2 1/2 weeks to finally be healthy again.

So, instead of bloggin', I've just been enjoying these last few days of track out with Kate. I was so sad to tuck her in bed Sunday night. I knew that her big, bright eyes wouldn't be greeting me in the morning (her Daddy takes her to school). I wanted more time!

But enough of this....let's get down to some updates. I decided to go back and post a few pre-track out events.

Do you remember that Kate was a part of her school's group that tried out for Pieces of Gold? And that they made it? Well the week before track out, it was finally time for the show! It's a pretty big deal, with groups of all ages performing...and they get to perform on that big stage at Memorial Auditorium in downtown Raleigh. I took a few pictures of Kate's group the day before at dress rehearsal.

Here's a nice shot of the Crocs...love the two big staircases at the entrance to the auditorium.

I loved this picture because it looks like Kate and Mr. Scheuer (her music teacher) are sharing a private joke. Mr. Scheuer was so sweet to ask Katelyn to participate in this year's performance. I think he made a good choice, don't you? Two words: drama queen.

One of the few shots that came out okay in the dark, dark auditorium. It's a pretty big stage up there, and I was so worried how Katelyn would react to saying her lines in front of SO many people. On the night of the performance, I think my heart was beating faster than hers. I'll never forget how nervous I was for her...and how proud I was when she walked up to the front of the stage, and as cool as a cucumber, said her lines perfectly! That's my girl! (Actually, that wouldn't be me. In kindgergarten/first grade, I was asked to be the partridge in our school's Christmas play. I said no...I was way too shy! Who is this kid on stage in front of WAY more people than Grady A. Brown's parent population?)

Katelyn loved hanging out with all the "upperclassmen". Surprisingly, they were all very nice to her and treated her like their little mascot. She loved all the attention. Kate found a new friend in Meredith, and they both enjoyed each other's company the night of the show!
