Wow! It's been over a MONTH since I last posted. I can't believe how quickly the time has passed. June has been a month filled with milestones. Kate's training wheels finally came off AND she swam with her head underwater from one side of the pool's shallow end to the other! She also finished up first grade with a fun field day and a class play. Aaron's big news? His brave mother signed him up for Potty Training Boot Camp! It was a rough couple of days, but both of us survived. He also caught his FIRST FISH with a brand new rod 'n reel that Pop purchased for him. Aaron loved (really loved, people) the pool at our beach condo, and wanted nothing more than to continually jump off his Daddy's knee into the water. He had NO FEAR and loved going under the water!
Bryan and I really loved having a 10-day vacation this summer. We went to the mountains of Highlands, NC for 3 days to visit his parents and then drove cross-state (is that a word?) to spend 7 glorious days at Indian Beach, NC. Man, I wish I was still there. It was so relaxing...and every morning I woke up with a smile on my face. The beach can do that to a person. Really.
I am now going to post a bunch of photos (you know that's how I roll) from the month of June. I hope you enjoy my captures of family memories, milestones and magnificent scenery!

Single page layout from Kate's field day...really love the shot of Aaron looking inside the cone!

Nanay came to see Kate's performance in The Little Red Hen

Daddy was sweet to take time out of work to come too!

This was really more of a "reading" than a play, but Kate played the Little Red Hen. She memorized all her lines, and got the biggest laugh from the audience when she said (with attitude), "oh no you won't" in response to all the animals saying they would help her eat the bread. Just imagine her head going from side to side and her pointing her finger at them.

Kate laying on the artificial grass in her school's courtyard. She looks happy to be done with first grade and ready for her summer break!

One proud Mommy!

I tried to make a cake for Kate, Gaby & Lorena's last day of school. They were pretty excited at the surprise, and they loved seeing their names on the cake!

We were hanging out with the Riveras in our culdesac, and Richard decided it was time to take Lorena's training wheels off her bike. He jokingly told Kate to go get her bike and he would take hers off too! None of us could believe it when Kate walked over to our garage and came back with her bike! She's been pretty skittish when it comes to bike riding and none of us thought she was ready for this next step. Boy did she prove us wrong!

It really only took having Bryan help her a couple times around the block before Kate was ready to go solo. She was happy and so proud of herself!

Lorena and Kate...training wheels off and ready to go!

Had to document Potty Training! This is what Aaron thinks of all this potty business.

His underwear may be on backwards, but this little boy is proud of the fact that he pee-pee'd in the froggy potty! Thank you Target for this cute little potty...it really did the trick!

Picture of Mema & Pop's cottage in Highlands, NC

They made this cute little sign to welcome our kids!

After 6 hours in the van, they were VERY excited to be with Mema and Pop!

Pop is a huge fan of
The Varsity, so he picked up hats for Aaron & Kate.

You want fries with that?

Our first outing was gem mining

Funny!

Our helper showing Kate how to "hunt"

All smiles and so excited about her treasures!

Priceless!

I'm having fun too, Mommy!

Smile, Pop!

I actually got in a photo! Thanks Pop for taking over my photographer duties.

My two adventurous boys!

Look at the beautiful waterfall!
Hmmm....there are several pictures to go, so I'm gonna have to turn this post into Part 1. Hopefully Part 2 tomorrow!

Glad to see you are back! I've checked this blog so many times just waiting for more pics! It's awesome you guys have been so busy and taking trips -- your kids will have the best memories of being a kid!!
You guys have been just about as busy as us this trackout! I know you've enjoyed being on-the-go, as have we! Sounds like you've had tons of fun! Glad you got to the beach! I love the picture of you and Kate in front of the waterfall, that's one for the frames!
Lets get together at least ONCE during track out so Noah can actually remember what his friend Kate looks like! :)
woo hoo! glad you posted...love the catch up! Can't wait to see part 2
I don't think your summer days have been lazy at all!! Y'all have had such sweet times this summer. Thanks for sharing the photos.
That pic of you and B's dad...that is such a Bryan look!
Glad you're back in this corner of NC!
Love all the pictures. I have been anxiously awaiting to hear about your 10 days that I sat bored in my little crab smelling house. I missed you guys, but I am so glad you had fun. I am still technically undecided about my coming on Friday. It seems to be rainy for the weekend there and really perfect weather here. If I get to do all I want to do, then I will come home friday but if my family slacks off on fun for these first few days (they want to "chill") I may want to stay for the weekend. I will let you know as soon as my mind is made up. Again plan everything you wanted to do, don't let my coming hinder your plans. I miss you. Tell Kate and Aaron HELLO. Audios.

Great post - I love the Super Crocs day layout - ours is this Friday and you have reminded me to bring the camera.
My kids could mine for gems FOREVER!!!
Loved reading your update. And...we just got back from Atlanta and ate at The Varsity while we were there. Of course, I took some pics but have not downloaded them. Enjoy the rest of the summer.
